Back in 2009, Vertigo/DC Comics was looking to refresh the softcover trade paperback covers of Neil Gaiman's tremendously popular SANDMAN Library. After a number of submissions by other designers were rejected, I presented my "Faces" concept, which, happily, went over well with Neil. The concept was to focus in on just the faces from a selection of the myriad wonderful cover illustrations Dave McKean had produced for the original comic series, giving them a new look and meaning. It was (challenging) fun.
